Jaka Kopach (Slovenian spelling: Kopač) is recognized as one of the leading jazz alto saxophonists of the younger generation of musicians in Slovenia. He is mostly known for his musical expression, which he compliments with a warm sound and a lot of energy. His playing also reflects in his compositions that are musically both challenging and simple, and carry a certain depth, which he fully establishes in improvisation. This year, Jaka will be releasing his second album called “Present Thoughts” which was recorded in New York with Orrin Evans, Vicente Archer and Willie Jones III.

In 2009, he received his Master’s degree in Jazz saxophone. The same year, Jaka released his debut album, with original compositions, called “Almost there” which he recorded with well-established Finnish musicians in Helsinki, Finland.
